Why Financial District is the Best Place to Live

By: Jennifer Villalba

If you think that the Financial District in NYC is all about the stock exchange, NASDAQ, Wall Street, banks, corporations, and suited professionals, you need to think again.

It is more than NYC’s bustling financial hub.

The district features a calm environment, sea views, stunning architecture, shopping hubs, and a vibrant lifestyle, making it one of the best places to live in NYC.

Here are some cool reasons to consider Financial District, Manhattan as your next destination to live.

1. You Get to See Wonderful Architecture…

New York houses some of the stunning pieces of architecture in the world. And some of them are in the Financial District. Let’s start with The World Trade memorials and the Freedom Tower. Both are fantastic examples of architecture and designs.

Move to Oculus, a transit hub at the rebuilt WTC, and you will feel something like straight from the future.

The list of its architectural wonders would be incomplete without the mention of Charging Bull on Wall Street. You can explore more by checking out Four Trees by Jean Dubuffet and Red Cube by Isamu Noguchi. The district features mind-blowing architecture in every direction.

2. A Perfect Gastronomical Experience…

FiDi is also known for its food culture. The area ensures a wonderful dining experience with its variety of restaurants and eating outlets.

Delmonico’s is an iconic restaurant and the historical pride of New York which is located at 56 Beaver Street.

It is known for serving Theodore Roosevelt, Mark Twain, and Charles Dickens. Cipriani Downtown introduces you to fine Italian dining. If you are a fan of Japanese and Peru cuisine, move to Nobu which is located on Broadway.

Visit Stone Street for an “energetic” dining experience. Stone Street is a cobblestone pathway teemed with picnic tables, umbrellas, and locals. The street is lined with several restaurants and bars on either side.

3. An Easy Access to Free and Great Museums…

Financial District is the home of several calm and cheap museums. No matter if you aren’t an art lover, these museums will enthrall you with their collections that showcase the wonderful history of the USA.

One of them is Fraunces Tavern which offers a range of collections belonging to the Colonial and Revolutionary era in New York. The National Museum of the American Indian showcases a great collection of aboriginal artifacts. Moving to the Museum of American Finance, tells the history of American Financial and economic history.

4. Seaport is a Perfect Place to Spend Summers…

The South Street Seaport is a historic area located in Manhattan, positioned at the meeting point of the East River and Fulton Street. The area features colonial-style buildings and cobblestone streets. For locals, it is more than just a historic location.

It is a great place to enjoy summers with a concert and outdoor programs. From dining to shopping, there are many exciting activities to do at the South Street Seaport.
