How to Decorate Your Apartment for Summer

By: ROS Team

The summer months can be a great time to decorate your home. Just because it’s warm outside does not mean that you have to abandon all of your favorite interior design items for the season.

You could even incorporate some beachy accents into your space to make it feel more like a vacation home than an apartment!

Have A Cool Centerpiece

A centerpiece in the middle of your apartment is one of the best and easiest things to prepare your apartment for the summer.

The centerpiece is what will draw your guests’ eyes, so it should be something that catches their eye and makes them ask questions.

Try some of these ideas:

  • Glass vase with flowers or fake ones (you can get these for cheap at any store)
  • Metal vase with fake flowers in it (again, cheap!)
  • Bowl with water and ice cubes floating around inside (use food coloring if you want them to look more festive). You can even add fruit slices like oranges or limes if you want! This looks really pretty when lit up by candlelight at night time–and don’t worry about spilling; it won’t melt because there’s no heat source directly underneath the bowl itself.

Color Block Your Pillows

Pillows are an easy way to add color and texture to your apartment. You can use a variety of different sizes, shapes, and materials to give your space a little extra pop.

Use pillows in different colors, like one blue and one yellow pillow on either side of your bed, or mix up the pattern with some striped ones on the couch.

Experiment with different materials like cotton or silk. Cotton is cheaper than silk but also less durable, so it might not last as long. However, if you don’t have pets at home, then this won’t be an issue for you! If you have pets, then opt for something washable so that cleaning them isn’t too much work (you’ll thank us later).

Pillows aren’t just decoration – they’re also functional! Make sure they’re clean before using them otherwise, dust particles will stick around. Which could irritate sensitive skin types such as allergies or asthma sufferers alike.

Add Some Greenery Around The Apartment

Use plants to add color and texture. Make a statement with plants by placing them in the center of your living room, or use them as a focal point for an otherwise empty space.

Add life to your space by strategically placing plants around the apartment that reflect their natural environment (e.g., ferns near windows). This will help create an illusion of being outdoors, even if you’re not!

Create a cozy atmosphere by using indoor plants like succulents or cacti; they’re easy to care for and can survive on minimal light!

Just make sure they don’t get too hot–if possible, keep them out of direct sunlight during summer months when temperatures are highest outside.

Stick To A Color Palette

When decorating your apartment for summer, stick to one color palette. This will help the space feel cohesive and intentional rather than like a hodgepodge of random items.

To choose your colors, consider using a neutral base like white or gray, then adding pops of color with furniture and accessories. If you’re looking for inspiration on how to do this effectively, use a color wheel as a guide.

Remove Heavy Draperies and Linens

Whether you live in a studio or an apartment, there’s no need to keep all of your heavy drapes and linens. Lighten up by using lighter fabrics, colors, and patterns.

White or light-colored walls can also help create an airy space that will make you feel happier during the summer months.

Light-colored furniture is another way to keep things cool – just remember that it needs to be comfortable!

If you’re looking for something stylish, choose pieces with clean lines so they don’t distract from other decorative items in your room (like pillows).

Bring In The Outdoors

One of our favorite and recommended ways to bring summer into your apartment is by using plants and flowers in a vase. You can also hang up a hammock or lay out some beach towels as throws or blankets.

If you have room for it, put up a beach ball as a decorative piece! A beach chair makes an excellent side table, too – they’re pretty sturdy, so they don’t need much support (or weight).

Freshen Up the Walls

If you’re looking to freshen up the walls, it can be as simple as adding some new artwork and curtains, If there’s an area of your apartment that’s been bothering you for a while (like that ugly light fixture), cover it up with some art!

If you’re feeling really ambitious, paint the whole room! This is an easy way to add color without changing any furniture or accessories–just make sure that whatever color scheme/patterns/etc. Go into choosing a fresh coat of paint are ones which will work well with what’s already in place.

Add Summer Accents

  • Add a Hammock: A hammock is a perfect way to relax in the summer, and it can also be used for napping or reading.
  • Add a Beach Towel: A towel is useful for drying off after swimming or playing sports outside, so you’ll want one around at all times during the warmer months!
  • Add a Beach Ball or Two (or Three): Playing catch with friends is another great way to spend time outdoors during this season–and if you don’t have any friends who live close by, then just take advantage of those moments alone when no one else wants them!
  • Set up an ice cooler full of drinks on your balcony so that everyone has something cool and refreshing while they hang out outside together without having to go inside very often at all!

Conclusion

Hopefully, this post has gotten you excited about decorating your apartment for summer. If you’re feeling inspired to bring some fresh air into your home and add some floral accents, we encourage you to do so!

The best part about decorating an apartment is that there are no rules – you can make it look however you want as long as it makes sense for your space. So go ahead and experiment with different colors or patterns until something clicks for you.
